Along with the novelist Andy Killeen, Charlie is a co-founder of the PowWow Festival of Writing, a day-long event that takes place in the back garden of one of Birmingham’s best pubs. The festival was established in 2011 and in a short period of time has become a well-loved fixture on the literary scene.
Guests have included Booker-shortlisted writers Alison Moore and Clare Morrall, the screenwriter Andrew Davies, Granta Best of Young British novelist Adam Foulds, Courttia Newland, M John Harrison, Nicholas Royle, Kit de Waal, Suzi Feay, Katy Guest and Danuta Kean.
